Home Page

This is one of the most popular and helpful programming channels in the IRC universe: a great place to learn about all things Java.

You can find the logs of the channel here, select ##java from the list on the left-hand side.

You can view the latest Java Standard Edition API reference directly from Sun's website.

The Really Big Index is a master tutorial of all things Java. If you're just starting, try the friendly First Cup of Java tutorial, followed by the specific trails for the topics that you are interested in.

You can view all of the tutorials on one page. We strongly advise you look at these before you ask a question. The sidebar also contains other miscellaneous resources, please check those out.

Please do not paste more than two lines in the channel. Use the ##java pastebin instead. It provides syntax and query highlighting, it can remember you as a channel regular, and it's maintained by the channel operators.

Don't Ask to Ask -- This means asking if anybody uses X; where X is the product. Just ask your question!

No aolbonics - and that means "u"! Use of u, ur, r, plz, thx, ftw, and other aolbonics is discouraged and you may be silenced if you talk like that. DO NOT even bother arguing about this, it will likely get you a one-way ticket out of ##java.

A quick tutorial to using javabot can be found here.

NO HOMEWORK! If you want us to do it for you, bids start at $75/hr, minimum of one-hour. Please see our homework FAQ page for more information.

We don't support Javascript, so don't even think of asking. Click Here to see why.

We don't support GCJ -- Check out #gcj on irc.oftc.net for support using that. If you are using Ubuntu or Debian, see Java On Ubuntu.

Last, we don't support applets. Use Java Web Start instead. See The FAQ on Applets.
